While Ted Grace grew up in a family of carpenters, he still worked different jobs as a young man. He worked in packing houses, in carpentry, in restaurants, for a hospital, even caddied...all were great experiences that Ted said he wouldn’t trade for anything.
After serving in the military Ted worked as a draftsman at a real estate company, and then decided to enter an apprenticeship program with a union for three years to grow his skillset. Ted says that his on-the-job experience was vital to establishing Ted Grace Homes, which is why education is so important to how Grace Homes operates today.
Ted was one of the founders and still a member of the Builders of the Future program to help students have the same great experiences he did, as well as the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship.
